Course Information

  • These lorry loader crane (commonly referred to as HIAB) training courses are designed for operators of trailer, truck or lorry mounted hydraulic cranes. The courses are compiled to suit novice operators, experienced users and candidates requiring refresher training .

    We also conduct conversion courses to enable candidates to move from lever control to remote control operation or from one attachment to another, hook to block/brick grab for example.

    The hydraulic lorry loader crane training courses can also cover the use of any other vehicle mounted hydraulic cranes where the stability of the crane is dictated by its stabilisers. The lorry loader crane training programs are suitable for a wide range of industries.

  • Our crane training includes training in the basic setup and operation of the lorry loader crane. Under the scheme we can also conduct a Slinger/Signaller training course that covers the selection, inspection and correct use of webbing and chain slings as well as other lifting equipment in general use such as shackles and eyebolts as well as specific attachments:

    • Spreader Frames

    • Lifting Beams

    • Vehicle Recovery Frames

  • Our training courses are conducted on customer premises using customer equipment although we can cater for your training at our training centre if you want to bring your lorry to us. The courses we offer are eligible for funding.

    Our vehicle mounted crane training courses are accredited by ITSARR and are recognised by the Construction Industry as meeting the standards required for the CSCS scheme.

  • Our lorry loader crane training courses cover the following areas:

    • Specific use for which the crane is intended

    • Correct methods of use with explanations regarding incorrect methods and dangerous practices

    • Recognition of the marking of lorry loaders and its meaning together with an explanation of limitations

    • Daily check procedures for lorry mounted cranes

    • Stability and environmental considerations when preparing for lifting operations

    • Correct setting up and unfolding of the loader crane

    • Pre lift checks including environment, load, angle estimation and pre-use equipment checks

    • Lifting and lowering procedures including test lift procedures

    • Signalling techniques for assisted lifting operations

    • Possible faults arising from use and the appropriate withdrawal from service procedures

    • Procedures to be followed upon completion of the lifting operation

    • Preparing the crane and vehicle for transport

As a result of successful completion of the training & tests, delegates will receive full certification.
